Terms, in plain English

These terms cover the free tools on FixMyCryptoTax and the paid full report of the 1099-DA reconciler. By using the site or buying a license, you agree to them.

1. Software, not tax or legal advice

FixMyCryptoTax is software that does math on files you provide. It is not tax, legal or accounting advice, and nobody here reviews your situation. Guides on this site explain public rules and link their sources; they are general information, not advice for your return.

2. Your return is your responsibility

You choose the settings (such as the lot method and the tax year), you check the results against your Forms 1099-DA and your own records, and you decide what goes on your return. You are responsible for your return and anything you file. If you're unsure, ask a tax professional.

3. Your files stay in your browser

The tools read your CSV files and do the math in your browser tab. Your files are not uploaded to us. The only server call the reconciler makes for the paid report is the license check, which sends just the license key. See Privacy.

4. What you buy

The free preview stays free. The full report (Form 8949 export, audit trail and 1099-DA comparison) is a software license for one tax year: $29 per tax year, or $19 with the early-bird price until January 31, 2027. The price at checkout is the price you pay. Each new tax year is a separate license. The license is for your own use; please don't share or resell your key.

5. Payment

Payments are processed by Gumroad. Under Gumroad's own terms, Gumroad is the merchant of record for these sales (Gumroad Terms of Service, section 6), so your receipt, payment details and any sales tax are handled by Gumroad.

6. 14-day refund

If the report isn't right for you, reply to your Gumroad receipt within 14 days of purchase for a full refund. A refunded key stops working.

7. No warranty beyond the refund

We work hard to get the math right and every rule we rely on is cited, but the software is provided as is. We don't promise that it is error-free, that it reads every export format, or that its results fit your situation. Your remedy if it falls short is the refund above.

8. Limit of liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability for anything related to the site or the software is limited to the amount you paid for the license. We are not liable for taxes, penalties, interest or other losses that come from how you use the results.

9. Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. A change doesn't affect a license you already bought for that tax year.
